Danier Leather CareWhether your leather jacket is from Danier Leather, Wilsons Leather or any other leather garment manufacturer and retailer they all need to be maintained. People often make the mistake of thinking if they buy a higher quality brand name leather jacket from someone like Danier Leather that they don’t have to take care of it as much as someone who brought a lesser quality leather garment . They are wrong. They are correct in that the stitching and overall construction of the leather jacket from Danier is going to better crafted and of a higher quality. But unless the leather itself is properly cleaned and conditioned on a regular basis it will loose its overall look of prestige. Leather is a natural breathing material. Unlike many other materials that are used for clothing and furniture leather will become softer and more comfortable with use. The problem is if leather is not properly cleaned and conditioned on a regular basis the color will fade and the leather will become dry and begin to crack. Below are some very easy ways to clean and maintain your quality leather furniture or garment. Before you use any type of cleaning method for your leather you should always test it on a hidden part of the garment or furniture to make sure you will not do any type of damage. You should always hang your high quality leather garments on wide and sturdy clothing hangers to help them keep there shape. If you are going to store your leather clothing you do not want to use plastic bags or any other type of plastic non breathable container. Doing so will cause the leather to dry out and ultimately crack. Do not use any type of cleaning agents (mink oil, saddle soap, cleaning solvents, furniture polish, ammonia water or other home remedies) this will cause more damage. Leather is a unique natural product and needs special leather cleaners and conditioners designed specifically for leather. For minor spills on your leather furniture or garments soak up excess liquid with a cloth as soon as possible. You can also wipe with a little damp cloth using warm water. Then let air dry. For serious stains and scratches speak with a professional leather cleaner. Maintain the softness of your leather by using a quality leather conditioner every 6 months. Every couple of months you should also use leather cleaner. This will help maintain the like new shine of the leather and also create a protective barrier against stains. |
