Tools for Stripping Leather from Furniture

 

Besides the most important tools needed to strip leather furniture of patience and and the willingness to endure methodical time consuming labor, leather repair requires some very unique tools.

The claw chisel is a very important tool for the stripping of leather furniture as part of the leather furniture repair process. The claw chisel  is also sometimes called a tack lifter.

 

The claw chisel has a V-shaped notch at the top and is curved to assist in giving leverage while removing tacks from leather furniture. Claw chisels can be found in different lengths to help get to hard to reach places on pieces of leather furniture being repaired.

 

The next common tool used in the process of stripping leather furniture is the staple remover. The staple remover is used during leather repair and stripping to reach under staples of leather furniture with it slotted tip. 

 

When all else fails in removing staples and tacks from your leather furniture it is time to use a ripping chisel.
